An intellectual property (IP) litigator, Jan Zecher, Ph.D., helps German, European, and U.S. clients navigate Europe’s complex IP landscape, guiding companies of all sizes and at every stage of their lifecycle through the challenges of prosecuting IP rights, enforcing them in the courts, and defending their business against attacks.  

With more than 20 years of litigation experience, Zecher appears in the Unified Patent Court (UPC), the German courts and the European Court of Justice on a regular basis. He provides his clients with incisive counsel and cost-efficient, pragmatic solutions to protect and optimize the value of their innovations, enforce their IP rights, and pursue licensing opportunities.  

Equally adept in resolving disputes both in and out of court, Jan represents clients across industries in patent, trademark, design, and copyright cases, with a focus on software, semiconductors, and medical products. Jan is a German attorney-at-law admitted to practice in the UPC, the German courts, before the German Patent and Trademark Office, and in the European Union Intellectual Property Office, amongst other forums. 

Before becoming a lawyer, Jan was a scientific assistant at the Institute for Copyright and Media Law in Germany. 

During the weekends, Jan enjoys climbing the Bavarian mountains with his children, exploring the architectural beauty of the 1920s, and learning to play the piano.
