Dean People Overview Caitlin Dean helps clients resolve complex intellectual property disputes in venues including U.S. district courts, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. 

Caitlin has represented both plaintiffs and defendants across diverse industries including consumer products, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, computer software and hardware, and energy. Her practice has an emphasis on the life sciences and pharmaceutical fields, including Hatch-Waxman litigation. Adept at working with witnesses and communicating with experts, Caitlin enjoys cultivating a deep understanding of her clients’ technologies to achieve strategic business goals.

Caitlin also maintains a robust pro bono practice, in which she represents indigent clients in housing and immigration matters.

Before beginning her legal career, Caitlin was a member of the Rubenstein Lab at Columbia University and conducted lab and field-based research in Peru, Nicaragua, Kenya, and Mexico on topics ranging from animal behavior to epigenetics and bioacoustics. She also studied the epidemiology of adult brain tumors at Moffitt Cancer Center.
